Section AI and selection tools
Apply AI actions to a highlighted passage via the Refine menu and related controls.
When selection AI is enabled for your workspace, highlighting text opens the Refine menu beside your selection—a gutter stack with quick actions (tone, fluency, lists, translate, and more) plus a short custom instruction field. Some layouts may still show a compact bubble menu for certain actions; behavior can vary slightly by plan and deployment.
Flow
- Select the passage you want to change.
- Use the Refine stack next to the selection (scroll the page if needed so it is fully visible).
- Pick a quick action or type an instruction, then confirm from the preview (Accept, Try again, or Reject).
- Repeat on another passage if needed.
These operations consume AI words (where metered) and require you to be online when server-backed. They are meant for paragraph-scale edits. For large rewrites, run Generate draft again or work section by section instead of many overlapping AI passes.
