AutoDraft
Ghost text continuations in the workspace editor with optional web and library sources.
AutoDraft (Clarami) offers short gray ghost-text suggestions while you type in the workspace editor. It counts toward your AI words where your plan meters usage.
Account switch (master opt-in)
Under Account → Writing style, turn on AutoDraft to allow ghost suggestions anywhere your plan supports them. If this account switch is off, the AutoDraft control in the document toolbar is disabled and shows a link to Writing style.
Per-document on/off and source choices are separate (see below) and are saved with each document.
Toolbar (saved documents)
In a saved document in the workspace, the editor toolbar includes:
- AutoDraft — document-level on/off (stored on the document).
- Settings (gear) — sources and collection scope (see below).
Sources
In AutoDraft settings you can combine:
- References library — uses metadata from your Saved reference library (titles, authors, DOI/URL, etc.). It does not send full PDFs to the model.
- Web sources — when your environment is configured with a live web search API, the server can fetch short excerpts from the open web to ground suggestions. If web search is not configured, the UI explains that live web is unavailable; you can still use the library alone.
You must leave at least one of web or library on; if both are off, AutoDraft will not request suggestions.
Collection scope (when your plan includes reference collections) limits library context to one collection, or All references for everything in your library.
Using a suggestion
- Suggestions appear as gray ghost text after a short pause while you type.
- Tab accepts the suggestion into the document.
- Shift+Arrow Right runs Try again: it clears the ghost and requests a new suggestion.
- Escape or moving the caret dismisses the ghost text without changing saved content until you accept.
- The Try again control in the floating bar does the same as Shift+Arrow Right.
- Ctrl+Shift+Space (Windows/Linux) or ⌘⇧Space (Mac) requests a suggestion on demand at the cursor (when AutoDraft is enabled).
Feedback
When a suggestion is visible, you can use thumbs up / down to send vote-only feedback. No suggestion text is stored with that vote—only that you approved or disapproved, for product quality. Your document text is unchanged.
Trust and school work
AutoDraft is a drafting aid. Do not treat web snippets or model text as correct citations or facts without checking the original sources. For graded work, follow your instructor’s rules on AI use and citation.
For administrators
Live web grounding requires server configuration (for example an AUTODRAFT_WEB_SEARCH_API_KEY for the integrated search provider). Without it, Web sources stays disabled or clearly degraded—Clarami does not pretend a web search ran when it did not.
