Review: citation assist and similarity check

Review rail: proofread, citation scan, claim check, and optional similarity pass.

When you can edit a document, Review in the document header opens a right-hand rail with advisory tools (exact set depends on your plan and server configuration). Click Review again to close the rail, or use the collapse control inside the panel.

What you may see

Typical tools include:

  • PolishPass — Language cleanup (grammar, punctuation, clarity); not a fact or citation verifier.
  • Citation assist — Flags passages that may need sources or stronger attribution. It is not a web originality database. When a DOI is suggested, the product may verify metadata before display. Use Add citation to open Insert citation with context.
  • ClaimShield (when enabled) — Highlights possible claim–evidence gaps; advisory only.
  • Advanced similarity check (on eligible plans) — A second-pass wording review; not a database comparison and not a guarantee about institutional checkers.

Free tiers may show upgrade messaging for some assistants; see your Subscription page for details.

Session flow

Running a check may open a dedicated session with progress, then results. Use Back to Review to return to the hub.

Always follow your school’s required originality and citation tools in addition to any in-app advisory.
