AutoDraft: ghost-text drafting that waits for your approval

AutoDraft is Clarami's inline drafting assistant inside the editor. Short, gray continuations appear after a brief pause at the cursor. You accept with Tab, dismiss with Esc, or ask for an alternative. Nothing is written into your saved draft until you accept.

Available on every plan. Free includes a smaller monthly word pool; PRO and Platinum scale your drafting words for longer papers. Turn it on under Account → Document defaults, then tune sources per document in the editor.

Provisional text, never silent insertion

When AutoDraft is on, the editor watches your cursor. After a brief pause it offers a short continuation in gray. Keep typing to ignore it, press Tab to accept, or press Esc to dismiss. You can also request a fresh suggestion on demand without waiting.

  • Tab to accept, Esc to dismiss: the suggestion is provisional until you accept. Your saved text never changes on its own.
  • Try again for alternatives: ask for a different phrasing without leaving any ghost text behind in the document.
  • Idle or on-demand: suggestions can appear after a brief idle pause, or you can trigger one yourself with a keyboard shortcut.
  • No surprise insertions: if you navigate away from the document while a suggestion is pending, the suggestion is discarded. Your committed text stays exactly as you left it.

Introductory sentences set up your claim. The next phrase can appear as a suggestion you accept or dismiss, and you stay in control.

Continuing the argument, we see that policy signals and grid investment tend to move together in most regions.

Source-aware by design

AutoDraft settings live next to the on/off control in the editor toolbar. Each document remembers its own choices, so a literature review can draw on your saved References library while a personal essay stays unsourced.

References library: opt in to use metadata from your saved references, and optionally focus on a single collection. If the collection you point AutoDraft at is empty, you get a visible notice instead of fabricated citations.

Web sources: when web search is enabled for your deployment, AutoDraft can pull short, relevant snippets to ground a continuation. It only sends a bounded window of text around your cursor for that lookup. Your full manuscript is never transmitted by default.

Want a pass without any source context? Turn both toggles off and AutoDraft falls back to continuation based on the surrounding paragraph only.

What AutoDraft is not

AutoDraft is not a one-click essay generator. It suggests a sentence or two at a time, where your cursor is. You are still the one shaping the argument, picking the evidence, and deciding what makes it into the paper.

AutoDraft does not vouch for facts or citations. Suggestions are drafting help, not a research check. Verify every claim, quotation, and citation against the underlying source before you submit graded or published work.

AutoDraft does not change your saved draft. Until you press Tab, the gray text is provisional. Walk away, switch documents, or close the tab, and the suggestion is discarded. Your saved text stays exactly as you left it.
